Dixie Chicks and GA

Have you heard the Dixie Chicks new song “Not Ready to Make Nice”? The Dixie Chicks aren’t typically my style, but I heard it yesterday for the first time – and oh my god. I haven’t had such a powerful response to any song -- ever. And I love to sing.

Here are some of the lyrics:

“Forgive – sounds good. Forget – I’m not sure I could.”

“They say time heals everything, but I’m still waiting.”

“I’ve paid a price and I’ll keep paying.”

“It’s a sad, sad story when a mother teaches her daughter that she ought to hate a perfect stranger.”

“It turned my whole world around.”

“I’m not ready to back down.”

Are they singing about me? Of course not -- though I did wonder for a nano-second when they got to the line about daughters. But sure as I live and breathe, they are singing for me.

To the Dixie Chicks: Thank you, thank you to all three of you and to those who support you -- from the bottom of my heart. Your courage is magnificent. You give voice to so many of us who feel silenced and unheard.

So….. how can we get the Dixie Chicks to GA?
